Real Superwomen ask for help
Asking for help when you need it can be one of the hardest things to do. A lot of us feel like we are superwomen, running around our little empires, looking like we’re on top of every little detail, and making sure our crowns are polished and on straight. Just remember this: real superwomen ask for help
Inside can be a very different picture however, and sometimes it can all get a bit much. When is it ok to say “actually everyone, I’m not coping with all my shit!”. Answer: whenever you need to.
But actually reaching out, even to our closest buddies, or family members, and saying it, can be like admitting defeat. It doesn’t have to be like this though.
CLICHE ALERT – “A Problem Shared is a Problem Halved”
When you actually speak about what is going on for you, you release some of the tension built up, it can be like a cork on a champagne bottle – whoosh go your emotions! This release can of course bring tears, anger, but doing this also can improve any anxiety you may have been feeling.
You also allow people to build a greater connection to you. People are pretty amazing at supporting one another, but generally they do have to be asked. A few people very close to you may pick up on your feelings of needing support, but most will need to be invited in. And when you do let people in, you will find that they really want to help you. We humans are like that, we generally like to support our fellow humans! AND – people love to be asked! Most people will be pleased that you chose to reach out to them.
